A memorable weekend for both athletes and spectators!
The 2nd International Bocce Tournament for young athletes with special needs was a huge success, with 24 teams participating from around the world. Such a good time was had by all, it is no wonder the event has grown exponentially from the 16 teams that participated in the first tournament held in 2010.
MeadowBrook’s general manager Jeffery Buhagiar attended this year’s competition, held April 30 – May 2 at Seneca College, and was extremely impressed and moved by the spirit of the event.
“To watch the kids have so much fun, to feel their enthusiasm, to be humbled by their determination and talent, was truly inspiring,” says Jeffery Buhagiar, adding congratulations to Port Colborne for their big win this year.
Youth Bocce Canada, associate partner of Special Olympics Ontario, supports over 400 athletes with special needs in the GTA and York Region.
