OUR HISTORY

Every business has a story to tell. This is ours

From a young age, Steven harbored a strong interest in the trades. After he obtained a finance degree from Ryerson, he followed his passion and attended trade school to become an HVAC mechanic. His brother Jeff was already in the HVAC industry, and during a warm August evening in 1996, the brothers discussed the concept that would become Avenue Aire. Initially, the company specialized in providing maintenance and repair services for heating and air conditioning systems to commercial and industrial customers.
As time passed, clients started requesting ventilation equipment installations, and Steven recognized the need to broaden the company’s expertise. To accommodate the growing demand, he brought on mechanical engineers and sheet metal mechanics. In 1998, Avenue Aire experienced a significant milestone while resolving a long-standing issue with the LCBO’s air conditioning system. The LCBO sought to modernize its store but was hesitant to invest in equipment upgrades, resulting in a 25-year-old air conditioning unit with clogged evaporator coils that failed to cool the store effectively.

In just 24 hours, Avenue Aire managed to bring the store’s temperature down to a comfortable 72 degrees, a level the store hadn’t enjoyed in five years. The LCBO was so impressed with the service that they inquired if Avenue Aire could also handle their electrical and plumbing needs. This inquiry sparked the idea of creating a comprehensive, one-stop solution for their clients.

Despite the obstacles

By 2001, Avenue Aire had established a strong presence in the retail, industrial, and commercial sectors across the Greater Toronto Area. However, when one of their commercial clients, who had recently purchased an office tower in Montreal, approached Steven for a complete building renovation, including design, it presented an opportunity that would forever transform the business. Despite the excitement, Avenue Aire faced a major challenge: they lacked both French language skills and a Quebec Construction License.

Despite the obstacles, the company was determined to help their client and hired a bilingual consultant from Ottawa to work through the drawings. They also hired a lawyer to navigate through the licensing process and spent the next three years commuting from Toronto to Montreal every week to design and renovate the building.

Through hard work and dedication, Avenue Aire successfully completed the project. This led the company to complete major projects across Canada, including the redevelopment of commercial and industrial space in Calgary.

Over the next decade, the company expanded to be a full-service General Contractor and officially re-branded as MeadowBrook Construction Inc..

Proud of his humble beginnings, Steven transformed MeadowBrook into what it is today through old-fashioned, hard work and a commitment to long-term relationships. Looking to the future, MeadowBrook continues to exceed expectations and gain loyal customers by staying at the forefront of technology and providing comprehensive, cost-effective solutions.
